Join us in our organic gardens for a chance to learn about our biodynamic farming operations that provide the produce for our restaurants. You are welcome to explore the coconut plantation, organic farm, citrus and mango orchards, banana plantation, and plant nursery on your own at any time of day on foot, by bicycle, or by car. But we would also be delighted to have one of our guides take you on a 45- to 60-minute tour that includes a thirst-quenching drink of fresh coconut water straight from a just-harvested coconut.

One of the best ways to get to know Cuixmala and see nature up close is on two feet. We encourage you to explore Cuixmala at your leisure on both our paved and unpaved roads. You’ll find a “Cuixmala Walk & Run Loop Map” in your casita or villa that shows three suggested routes of varying distances through and around the Cuixmala plantation.

Bicycles await you just outside your casa, beckoning for a ride down to the beach or cruise around the lagoon. Venture out and explore the property on your own, or contact guest services if you’d like a guided tour.

A soccer field adjacent to our private airstrip is available for your use at any time. Contact guest services to have someone meet you at the field with a ball or to join our staff in a game.

A tennis court is available for our guests’ use, located near Casa Puma. Hike up the hill from the casitas for a nice view on your way to the court or drive around and park in the shade. A variety of tennis rackets and balls are provided. Classes with a tennis pro can be arranged for $95+ per hour.

Learn about our Marine Turtle Conservation Program at Playa Cuixmala where we’ve protected more than 10,000 nests and released over half a million newly hatched turtles since its inception in 1988. From July to April, meet newly hatched turtles and even help release them after dark as they journey to the sea for the first time. A truly unique and memorable experience.

Located at the foot of Casa Cuixmala and adjacent to Cuixmala’s lagoons is a sanctuary that is home to Cuixmala’s exotic animals, including thirty-five zebras, fifteen elands, and two gazelles. You are welcome to visit the sanctuary on your own and observe the animals from the road, or ride horseback through the sanctuary in the company of Cuixmala’s cowboys to experience the animals up close.

Although none of our private beaches are suited for surfing, great surfing can be found 30 minutes south of Cuixmala in Arroyo Seco. We are happy to arrange a surfboard rental or lessons with an experienced local instructor. Contact guest services for more information.

This beautiful beach stretches along the front of our property and is visible from many points in the resort. Perfect for morning jogs and sunset strolls, and accessible via horse, bike, foot, or car from Casa Rio. Because of the dangerously strong surf and current, we do not allow swimming at this beach.

Set on a turquoise clear bay in a protected cove 30-40 minutes up the coast, Caleta Blanca is the ultimate beach experience. Fully equipped with bathrooms, showers, and a kitchen, you can spend the day there relaxing under an ocean-side palapa, lounging in a hammock beneath two coconut trees, or enjoying the shade of an umbrella on a cushioned lounge. Choose between a packed picnic basket or a freshly grilled lunch cooked on-site, and enjoy the following activities of your choice:

  • Swimming
  • Paddle Boarding
  • Kayaking
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Snorkeling

Climb aboard a 47’ ketch for an afternoon spent sailing the coastline of Chamela Bay and the nearby islands. Jump off and swim ashore to a small secluded beach on a secluded island or relax above deck and soak up the sun catching glimpses of sea turtles, stingrays, dolphins, and schools of fish. Retire below to one of the two guest cabins for a nap and some shade. Enjoy complimentary fresh snacks and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the above or below deck dining areas. Accommodates 6-8 guests and can be shared with other groups. Departs from Playa Caleta Blanca.
